Hazard Warning Lights - SOS Before I chew the steering wheel to pieces in sheer frustration ..... please could anyone advise on non-functioning hazard lights on our 83 Autosleeper ?The switch light comes on but the hazards do not flash - in spite of replacing the three post relay with a brand new unit and removing and replacing all the connections. So come on fellas - please Save our Steering Wheel ! ---------------------- | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 12:53 |

Have you got power going to the relay? Check number 2 fuse. ---------------------- | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 14:02 |

I'm in a CF2 so might be different, but I had no hazards in the run up to my MOT a few weeks ago. I couldn't get hold of a replacement relay in time but I found that (and please don't ask me how I came to find this) giving the relay a damn good squeeze (almost a crush) in my hands brought it back to life again. It worked fine for the MOT and has continued working since. Odd, I know. If you've replaced the relay however and you still have no luck, and you've changed the fuse and still have no luck, then maybe unscrew the hazard switch and see if the connectors on the back of that have corroded. Then check the wires to make sure you haven't got a wire break that's pulled apart inside the insulation. Then, I don't know... maybe chew your steering wheel. I got good results when frustration and anger drove me to attempt to crush my hazard relay to death. ---------------------- | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 14:50 |

Sorry - Bluebedouin asks about power to the relay....I have no idea how to check and though I have a voltmeter-thingy somewhere I would probably be lethal if I tried to use it..... | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 15:41 |

more than likely its the switch its self that's at fault the contacts tend to dry up thus making not making contact. | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 20:21 |

12 volt switches Hi likaeica,if you coat the switch contacts with a light smear of vasolen, the switch will stay good for a long time. Cheers&Beers, Jim.---------------------- | Sat 29 Jun 2013 @ 21:41 |

Thanks once more for really useful advice.....cleaned up the contacts but still no joy so sourced a replacement switch - and Gethin, it must get boring being right just about every time - that was the problem ! Hazards now restored, steering wheel survives ! | Wed 03 Jul 2013 @ 15:13 |
