Spookytim - dont get your hopes up too high - I may be wrong but I think Mr Collier only produces rear quarter CILLS and not whole rear quarter SIDES (which I think is what you are looking for????). By all means speak with him......... Carl ---------------------- |

Aye, tis indeed the entire rear quarter side I'm looking for. I guess I'll have to hope I am able to rescue a good enough one off a corpse at some point... mine is pretty appalling and due to the badly rotted window aperture lip the water gushes in like a log flume. = ( ---------------------- |

Shaun, if you're out there... real shame you're selling. Its a lovely van and you've made so much headway with it. Tempted to make a bid myself, but I've got enough on my hands with my CF2. Anyway I hope you manage to find a good (a really good CF loving) buyer to take it on and keep it on the road. :C ---------------------- |

Shaun, I feel the same way about mine to be honest. Every time it rains I want to cry because mine has to be left out on the street. I wrote to RetroPower a long time ago. They quoted a price for providing a rolling shell conversion. I could just about meet the price, but I can't provide them with a rolling shell, so I haven't taken it any further. They do seem to do a lovely job, but I spoke to them in November/December last year, and the earliest date they could offer me was July/August this year. I wanted them to save my van from the ravages of this winter. As for rubber... I got some replacements for my side windows from Seals Direct... http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk who were every helpful. The seals have not prevented the rain seeping in however as to this day they remain in the box in the back of my van waiting for me to work out the chicken and egg problem of what to tackle first in order to end up with water tight side panels. I also just bought a front windscreen rubber from ebay for £40... but its 50/50 whether its going to fit. Part of me hopes you keep the van because she's a beauty and maybe you just need to accept her as she is for now and lower your expectations about restoring her to a much longer timescale (like over the course of your life rather than over the course of one winter). Just run her and enjoy the ride. I tank around in my van all the time and absolutely love it, despite the (brand new) squeeky noise of a loose fanbelt or similar at start up, the carb not being quite right, the fuel pump being a bit dodgy, the choke being prone to sticking at the full 'on' position, the steering being as taut and predicatable as a freeform jazz/rock fusion improv on a roller coaster, the leaf springs looking like they're fitted upside down, the tendency for the back door to swing open on a lairy corner, the tendency for the van to schedule a nice snooze at the foot of a steep hill, or halfway across a busy intersection, and the fact that the stereo speakers sound like a swarm of angry wasps trapped in a paper bag. You can't beat it. Puts a smile on my dial every time. ;D ---------------------- |
