Hello from The Netherlands Hi everyone,Let me start with apologizing for any bad or misspelled English. It's not my native language so sometimes it comes out all wrong and crooked. My name is Mike and im settled in The Netherlands, im 27 years old and for the first time in my life own a Bedford CF that was build in 1974. It has an 1800cc petrol engine. Nothing spectacular at the moment except for the wild paintjob that the previous owner gave it. But my wife likes it so its here to stay for the moment. I also own a VW Bug from 1981 that im restoring at the moment. After that its the Bedford's turn to get a make over. Im mostly here for the info since there aren't a lot of info sites in my country. Well enough talk for now time for pic's. ---------------------- | Fri 27 Aug 2010 @ 15:32 |

Hi Mike, welcome to CF UK Thats some paint job rather like it myself. Your van looks good and will certainly turn heads. If you become a card holder you will have access to much more information and support. Good luck Margaret ---------------------- | Fri 27 Aug 2010 @ 16:36 |

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Today was an ultimate test for my little 1800cc Bedford. My dad had some problems with his van and we decided that i should to it to the the nearest petrolstation Only problem is that his van ( a Chevrolet 1500 Express ) weighs in at 2650 kilograms. But we made it and the Bedford is still alive, a typical David Vs. Goliath | Mon 30 Aug 2010 @ 17:06 |

Hi mikus and welcome, we have an 1800 an if you not in a rush to get anywhere they are fine. Really nice paint job by the way, and as for the English don't worry, some of us don't speak it that well let alone type/spell it ---------------------- | Mon 30 Aug 2010 @ 18:37 |

I wouldn't call it competition, the other one actually looks like the scooby doo van Today it started some work on the Van, my gearbox was really near its end and i only had first gear. Later this evening im going to pick-up a replacement and try to get it in its place tomorrow. Today ripped out the broken one and shipped it off to the scrapyard. Looks like the small restoration is starting early | Fri 03 Sep 2010 @ 16:24 |

Today was the day, yesterday evening went and got me another engine with gearbox and today started with cleaning it first. Then took of the gearbox and put the engine aside for parts needed later in life.;D Now the new gearbox is fitted i know what ive been missing all this time, what a pleasure to drive. | Sat 04 Sep 2010 @ 15:56 |

Hi Mikus How easy is it to find bedford parts in the Netherlands, is there a good supply, or do you find it difficult to find parts. ---------------------- | Sun 05 Sep 2010 @ 09:48 |

Its hard there are a one or two partsdealers in the Netherlands but most of all you will have to search on second hand websites. Luckily for me there is a guy a few miles from my home who has a few Bedfords for spares and is not to expensive with prices. For example a normal retailer/garage will put you back around 625 pounds for a complete 1800cc engine when i got it for 200 pounds from another hobbyist. | Sun 05 Sep 2010 @ 13:59 |

Hey Mikus - only just read your thread. Hello. What a fantastic van - and a super paint job! We have great fun in ours especially if we go to the classic car shows as everyone comes over to say hello. My husband is a little grumpy about it so finds it hard having people wave at him all the time and shout 'Scooby Doo'. Been to a show this weekend and he is still in recovery . Our paint job is here to stay too as my three little ones refuse to change it. Fair enough I say. What part of the Netherlands are you from? I lived in Freisland for a bit. ---------------------- | Sun 05 Sep 2010 @ 18:05 |

I live in the south part of Holland in the province called Limburg lets see who can say that correct for the first time hahaha. I live in a little village called Velden, wich when you translate it to English is fields . i can't promise that the paint job will stay, im also rebuilding a VW bug and when that is done its the Bedfords turn. There is some body work so it also means a new paintob. | Sun 05 Sep 2010 @ 18:15 |
