Triple Trouble

Made a short trip in my Beddy this weekend, and i had to go and open my flipping mouth.

"4th time weve been out in her in 6 weeks" i said to an interested party, "and not a hint of trouble. Not bad for a 25 years old lady"

Well that did it.........

Making the short trip back home late Sunday evening, and really shifting, (almost hit 60 along the A4 between Calne and Avebury), we admired the sight of Silbury hill viewing area to our left, trundled on by, and then bang.......rear offside tyre blew.

Hmm ok we were on a serious schedule (daughters friends mum waiting to pick her up), but ok i thought i can manage this, and not be too late.

So, my first tyre change on the Beddy. Actually went smoother than expected once i located all the necessary tools !!! The only real issue was the removal of the spare wheel off the back which has decided it would rather stay there than run on the road. Still a couple of sweetly struck hammer blows to the spanner and off she came.

So with cars whizzing narrowly past my feet in the middle of the road i set straight to work, and was indeed a proud man when less than 10 minutes later i had lowered the jack, and mounted the flat tyre onto the spare wheel mounts.

"OK girls, belt up we`re off" , but what a plank , i had left the lights, hazards, and radio on whilst i was changing the wheel. Jumped in the cab, and nada, not a thing, ,,,,, how bloody frustrating.

Ok so lets not panic, wheres the breakdown cover details. Great in the cupboard, we will give them a call........

Yikes who has a signal on their mobile ........not me, nor me, me neither........

Uh oh....... now what, so we tryed climbing the hill, walking half a mile in each direction, waving at traffic, nothing, no help forthcoming.

Then after what seemed an eternity a police patrol drove past, looked, but didnt stop. I shouted up to my daughter "he could have f****ing stopped", and indeed perhaps he saw my gestures in his mirror, as he immediately stopped, turned and came back.

Thankfully he appreciated our situation and let us use his radio phone to call the breakdown company, and then to call family, alleviating their worries !

!!!

So when they say things come in threes at least we got them all out of the way in one outing.........

So now i have a decision to make, what should be my first purchase this week, a new spare tyre or a Booster/charger unit ???

I think i want both before my next outing

That is definitely a case of Foot & Mouth disease

Glad you got sorted okay though. You definitely need both items before venturing out again.

On the subject of the tyre - have you a tyre shop that sells part worns? An awful lot cheaper than new.
