Hi,
Single female with daughter from Oz trying to choose campervan for trip in mid Jan. Is this good? How big/heavy to steer is this vehicle? Looking at Fiat Ducato 1989 for around the same price as comparison.
Thanks
Jane

Hi Jane, (Happy New Year),
Look that sounds well overpriced for what is on offer, my experience with Motorhomes has shown low mileage doesnt always mean a good vehicle, one has to ask why all those jobs have been done on it (normally m/homes are used infrequently thru year and do a lot of sitting around)and hence the mechanics and body suffer....
it depends how desperate and how quick you require vehicle, but i would happily check Bedfords for sale for you and post the adverts to you to see.. I would say the one you describe is £1500 over priced (against whats out there for sale) and one presumes you plan to re-sell when you return to Oz????? so its worth getting a decent one at a good price so you dont loose too much on resale!!

As for the bedford van itself, it is nice and simple to drive, no flashy electronics etc etc, nice and roomy! to live and spend time in (if you planning that)...Up against the Fiat Ducatto, taking everything into consideration (i think the Beddy wins hands down)

As you will be aware by this site, you have a good back up of people with knowledge at your fingertips, and in the section offering help you will see members who are around the UK who would be willing to offer help/assistance if you needed it....

I think you should get a decent Beddy m/home to meet what you require for £2000 max (approx),
give us a better idea what you are planning to do, visit etc,

Best Wishes,
Allan

ive got a 1983 cf and its nedds the timing doing have been talking to gethin about it on another subject its got 6 months mot and tax and was working fine until we noticed this loose pump it would be a job for someone to either help me with and then to be sold or if i cant do it then the next owner will have to give it a go i have had her for a long time now and as i say i have a daughter now so it is just too small and we need a bigger one for the shows it was driving well up until two weeks ago and will still drive now all the other bolts have been tightened and have been told that we could drive like it is for up to a month but as we are looking for a new one anyway im afraid my days covered in my bedford oil are near the end for me its kitted out as a camper inside and i am told is in very good condition for her age it has a hawson body twin wheels.
