Midi Window Handle Removal Hello everyone, I'm a newbie.I have got a 1988 Bedford Midi which has so far been really great to drive. The difficulty I have is that there is no stereo. For this reason, I am trying to remove the door trim to mount some speakers. The difficulty is that I cannot get the window winding handles off. They don't seem to be pull-off ones, or ones with a hidden screw, or ones that twist off when you wind them further up or down. Does anyone have any idea how I get them off? Thanks! ---------------------- | Tue 20 Dec 2005 @ 13:36 |

Heyya, welcome to the bedheads! I honestly dont know for sure so this is only a guess, but I would imagine that if they dont have a screw in the middle like older vauxhalls then they will probably have a spring clip behind These are a real pain in the bottom, its kinda like a C clip, you can prise it off if you have some patience, just take a really small slotted screw driver, turn the winder so the handle is facing upwards (I think, it may be the opposite) push the door trim inwards.... usually there is a plastic ring around the base of the winder too, then push your screwdriver in and try to push the edges of the clip off, it usually takes several attempts and several where you get close and then it goes "ping" back again! hopefully once you push the trim back and look behind the handle you will see what i am on about! There is a special tool you can buy that will release them, halfords usually stock them (I can vouch for Cribs Causeway anyway, its in the Laser tools cabinet) Good luck! | Tue 20 Dec 2005 @ 19:48 |

If it is the C type clip I've used a piece of hooked 1/16th welding rod to pull the clip out. It takes a bit of practice but can be done. ---------------------- | Tue 20 Dec 2005 @ 20:10 |

To be honest, 9 times out of 10 these days i just rip the door panel off without removing the handle... dont suppose it matters too much though in my case since i have no intention of refitting it again afterwards! | Tue 20 Dec 2005 @ 20:58 |
