I think that might have been me and sadly no, nothing changed as life got in the way and grampacamper sat on the drive for a couple of years.
As I should have expected - not a great idea to try and drive him 30 miles to rest up with family whilst some building work is done - Bit of motorway with a large standing traffic = blown radiator and another gear lost

Soooo.... We are back to the status quo, could I ship you my gearbox please? (Or rather a spare I have that might or might not be working that I planned to swap in).

Happy to send you both and you keep one for spares.

My missing gearbox man has turned up and should have the gearbox collected on Thursday so problem solved.
