Drain Plugs. Hi to all,Back to an old subject that I have always thought to be a design error on the Vauxhall Bedford four speed gearboxes, no drain plugs in the bottom cover plate. So in my quieter moments when I find the odd spare bottom cover I drill and tap and fit an oil draining plug, the lack of one has destroyed many a Bedford gearbox through not being able to drain off the old oil full of shrapnel before refilling with new clean gear-oil. doujoy l | Fri 26 Jun 2020 @ 10:48 |

Drain plugs.Hi to all, Hi to all,A different drain plug to remove today an engine oil change and a new filter not that the Bedford has done a great mileage but it is two seasons since the last oil change but only covering 20,000 miles in those two seasons. With a new oil pump fitted it should see me through another couple of seasons even just this half season which is all we will have left of this summer. doujoy | Sat 04 Jul 2020 @ 15:03 |

Non return oil filters. Hi to all,The benefit of using this MAN filter for the last three years is that it holds to oil back in the oil galleries instead of allowing a drain back, this shortens the of oil pressure being reached in the crank-shaft and feeding up to the cam-shaft. Which less chance of that crank-shaft rattle, in my case no rattle at all and on an older engine that can only be good. The filter I use is a MAN w914/2 which is a perfect fit to the block if a bit bigger. doujoy | Sun 05 Jul 2020 @ 11:49 |

Excommunicted . Hi to all,It seems you must be very careful when carry out any work that may improve the lag-time caused by the distance and time of travel of engine oil from sump to main oil gallery, by means of the use of non-return valves greatly reducing drain back and therefor greatly reducing the time oil pressure takes to give a full 60psi reading on the oil pressure gauge from cold. As a result of not putting up drawings of photo's to prove that the system I have used for three years works, I have been blocked from accessing Bedford.org Maybe if those running that site had came up with this idea it would have been a great one. doujoy | Wed 15 Jul 2020 @ 17:14 |

Hi Doug Looks like bedford.org is no more. The domain just goes to a holding page now. ---------------------- | Sun 02 Aug 2020 @ 19:58 |

Hi Colin. Hi,Those in charge seemed to have lost the plot a bit if the idea's came from anyone other than themselves it was seen as dangerous and unsupported by photo's or drawings. doujoy | Sun 02 Aug 2020 @ 20:16 |
