Seat belts Hi how do you Cary more than one pasanger ,has anyone fitted rear seat belts to a s reg camper van ?.Thanks tony |

I was looking into this recently and from what I can gather if there are non from new then you don't legally have to put them in. However, sideways whiplash is a b***h and flying through the driver/passenger and out the front window probably sucks a lot  .

seat belts Hi Tony,the side bench seats can be made in to single seats faceing forward.Then you can fit a waste belt or wil some dificulty you could fit a full belt.Cheers+Beers,Jim.---------------------- |

If you check either the gov.uk or rospa sites both state that seat belt must be worn IF FITTED. If not fitted you don't have to fit them, the passengers go without seatbelts UNLESS they are under 3 years old. Take a look at THIS or [url=http://www.bedfordshire.police.uk/advice_centre/casualty_reduction_partnership/seatbelt_and_child_seat_safety/seat_belt_law.aspx]THIS[/url] The main bits are 'In addition, a child 3 and over may travel unrestrained in the rear seat of a vehicle if seat belts are not available'. and, regarding adults, 'Seat belt MUST be worn if available'. One thing you shouldn't do is fit waist belts to side facing seats. They can cause more injury than no seat belts. ---------------------- |

Thanks guys What do you think about putting aseat in with full seat belt fitted to it .but side way facing , In place of bench seat |

rear seat belts Hi Tony,seat belts a danger as they don't offer any protection in the bench seat.This is why I mentioned the seat being made into the forward possition.Other people can explain this possition better than I Cheers Jim.---------------------- |
