It stands for Caravans International Motorhomes (or Motorised).

To extend a bit on Grahams answer the motorhome part of the Bedouin (and this applies to all camper/motorhome conversions) was done by seperate companies. Bedford never created a camper/motorhome, they only built van and chassis cab CFs. They were then sold to coachbuilders who did the conversions to campers. So the CM Bedouin badge only refers to the camper conversion and not the original vehicle.

Nope, all done by seperate coachbuilding firms. My own was converted by Pioneer of Hull. The same body (well, very similar, just longer) was also available on a Merc chassis. This is quite common, the same body being fitted to several different manufacturers chassis such as Ford. A good example can be seen in the brochures section. Take a look at the following. Written below the photos are the 'base options' which lists the different make chassis you could have the Glendale body on.

Ford, Bedford, Sherpa, Toyota, Merc etc.

colour schemes

anyone got a colour chart of the bedfords? we're thinking of redoing the paint - ours was originally what I believe is generally referred to as "nappy brown" previous owner painted it sort of sky blue I suppose you'd call it. I quite fancy a cream and pale green colour scheme but the missus is quite keen on a cream and dark blue scheme to match her curtains!

I don't know of a colour chart as such but the paint codes can be found on this thread.11558
If you're choosing your own colours it doesn't really matter though, does it?
You could try this site .
I'm sure I read somewhere that the nappy brown was officially called Sahara but can't find the reference now.

I found this on the net :-

Advantura motorhomes were made by European Motor Caravans Ltd a division of A-line Caravans. They were made in Kingston upon Hull from the mid 70's to the early 80's. The company was sold out to Carlton Motor Bodies Ltd who had ceased trading by 1985. The bodies were built on various chassis including Bedford CF, Ford Transit, VWLT and even Leyland Sherpa. The original bodies were quite angular and corrugated looking often brown or green but the final version produced from 1980 onwards was more rounded and painted in white, buff yellow and brown.

And just to prove they weren't all CFs here's a VW
