CF Landcruiser Kerb weight.

I am getting close to buying a CF landcruiser which may need transporting home.

Last mention on here of Kerb weight / Unladen weight seems to have been about a year ago and didn't seem to be conclusive.

Has anyone out there with a landcruiser had it weighed ??

Problem seems to be that the transporting people who are likely to offer the best price are themselves likely to be up against the 3.5 tonne limit.

The brochures for the Landcruiser don't give the weight unfortunately.The other vans I looked at though are below 2000kg.As the majority of the body is fibreglass I think you should be well below 3.5 ton.

Thanks for that, Bluebedouin.

I think my phrasing was a bit sloppy.

What I MEANT to say was that the car transporting firms that are cheapest are probably using a "beavertail" or a 4 wheel trailer and their rig itself will be up against the 3.5 tonne limit!

A few Kgs here or there on the weight of the landcruiser could be critical and make a difference of a couple of hundred £s on the quote.

Have you considered self drive transporter hire?It might work out cheaper.

Had a look on the net and they seem to be up against the same limit.

why not use an A frame.
so long as the tyre's are in good condition then she could be towed behind either a decent 4x4 or big van as a trailer in its self..

You can get an A frame with brakes which attach to the handbrake cable which allows you an increase in towing weight.

So long as you have passed your test to allow you to tow you should be OK.

Well, I've gone and bought the Beddy and got a price of £168 to transport it the 120 mile Journey on a trailer. I reckon that's not too bad if it works out ok.

Thanks for all help ! I expect I'll be posting lots more questions now !

I'll probably run it over a weighbridge sometime and post up the weight!
