Fitting a drive away awning Hi it's me again a quick question . A friend gave us a drive away awning but its from a vw van and attaches to the gutter. It fits our van but won't clear the outside light or allow door to open ( it doesn't really fit at all in fact ) . Can anyone offer advice on fitting this . Cheers john---------------------- | Tue 14 May 2013 @ 10:08 |

the only way to use this is by making an extension to fit between the Beddy and the awning. this needs to be about 3' wide to allow the clearance of your door and you stepping down. attachment is via normal awning rail fitted to the Beddy and a figure of 8 fixing then 2 poles at the awning end again using figure of 8 or a zip to joint both together. | Tue 14 May 2013 @ 19:06 |

awning rail cam be screwed and sealed to the Beddy. you need to find a canvas thats waterproof and be able to sew a piping all the way round. you will need to construct a frame to hold the whole lot up and away from the Beddy as well....... | Tue 14 May 2013 @ 23:00 |

Hi Guy. it can be hard to find the upright joists . best way is to drill all the way through both inner and outer skins and put a piece of wood on the inside to strengthen | Wed 15 May 2013 @ 22:48 |

Hi mine is the same but I don't have a gutter or rail to attach it to the van . So I'm going to get an old awning from a friend and fit a rail to make a bridge between the van and awning. Cheers john ---------------------- | Tue 21 May 2013 @ 22:58 |

Let me know how it goes I don't know what to do with mine I also have a great body . Might just use awning as tent instead for a bit until I get round to plucking up courage on the rail . Good luck john ---------------------- | Wed 22 May 2013 @ 00:24 |

i didb't want to drill into mine, this one fits by pulling 2 elastic bungees tight and pegging them into the ground, works a treat, https://www.facebook.com/CF250?ref=ts&fref=ts#!/photo.php?fbid=100350116734133&set=a.100349916734153.170.100002774340876&type=3&theater ---------------------- | Wed 22 May 2013 @ 17:56 |

well ok awning rail now fitted no holes in van and its been out and tried and tested ....... wot i did ....i listened to the wife thats wot i did and she said to get this stuff ..Sikaflex EBT multiuse Filler, Sealant & Adhesive..anyway she had done alot of research so i got it . i was abit sceptical but cracked on and did wot i was told and all i can say is IT WORKS no mess i drew lines where the rail was to go masked the area of and fitted the rail up the one thing i will say is we took all the sticky stuff of the new rail first which took more time than the fitting of the rail. we let it set and then went to a festi where we put our new awning up and gave it some grief and its still up there no worries .. that was a bit long winded but you get the idea guy ---------------------- | Sun 23 Jun 2013 @ 23:27 |

I can't see the point of awning rails for drive away awnings.... ours has a generous amount of material above the top frame with guy ropes attached. You just fling those over the roof of the van (and ours is a hi top) and secure into the ground on the opposite side. Unhook the guy ropes when you want to drive away. Nothing could be simpler ! | Wed 26 Jun 2013 @ 09:10 |
