Mouldy old Dough Hi All,Not been here for a year or two due to business restraints... I went into the camper today (after 12-18 months) and the new wooden ceiling I fitted has gone mouldy. Any ideas how to stop this please? It is just 3ply at the moment and I was going to wallpaper it or paint it but now worried the mould will come through again. what are other people doing? Cheers, Spence ---------------------- | Sat 26 Jan 2013 @ 22:38 |

Hi and welcome back First thing, is it mould or is it damp? If the wood is damp then just painting/papering over it is just delaying things. During the time it's been standing have you allowed air to circulate in the van? Is it heated in winter ? ---------------------- | Sat 26 Jan 2013 @ 23:14 |

Sounds like non use to me, as long as it is not letting rain in it is possibly just the fact that the air in the van is getting hot then cold, this forms condensation, this turns into mould, use the van a bit more, air the van at least every week, you could also use anti moisture powder to soak up the condensation, they only cost about £3 a pack and last for months. | Sun 27 Jan 2013 @ 07:21 |

As long as it's not a leak perhaps a small dehumidifier left running would help. ---------------------- | Sun 27 Jan 2013 @ 11:23 |

With a good deal of the Atlantic washing over us, a frost protector (cheap 1 bar fire) and a cover over the van, keeps condensation away. If I shut the house up and go to my villa in Monaco (yeah! who are you kidding?) then condensation causes mold very quickly. Fresh air is the cheapest method, so just crack two windows and the draught does the rest. A cover for the van is really effective in keeping the interior stable. A good buy if the cash is there. ---------------------- | Sun 27 Jan 2013 @ 11:45 |
