ZF 4/5 speed input shaft dimensions

Currently adapting a ZF 5 speed box from a CF2 to fit a 2.3 slant. I have trimmed the spigot down to 22mm to match the length of the one on the Bedford 4 speed box. However when I fit the bell housing, the Bedford input shaft sits about 15mm inside the bell houseing, where as the ZF one protrudes by about 15mm - so obviously I can't get it to mate with the engine!

Does anyone have a ZF box that they could measure? I would like to know the total input shaft length, and also the length of the splined shaft / spigot. I have a horrible feeling I will need to reduce the length of the splined section, which means stripping the gearbox to remove the input shaft :-( Was hoping just to shorted the spigot.

Cheers
Phil
