Battery rating?

Trying to troubleshoot a recurring starting problem. 2.3L petrol engine.
In cold weather it cranks very slowly but usually starts and will restart easily afterwards. New brushes in start over summer which appeared to cure things but its now failing me again.
I've taken off the now flat battery and it seems to have very little charge but charges to full within an hour. I'm suspecting that one of the cells may be faulty.
It's a basic car battery rated at 60A CCA (cold cranking) is that enough for this engine or should I be looking for something meatier?
thanks
Tony

Hi Tony my van is a 2.3 as well and your battery is the same size as mine and the engine cranks very well when cold. Try the leads to the bttery thaymite be dirty especially the earth, best to remove clean and fit back on.

battery

Hi Tony, This prob could be corossion on the battery termanals and or corrossion on the selanoid termanals. The easy way to go is clean all termanals and conections with warm sopy water and an old toothbrush, blow dry with ahair dryer.then you cover the terminal/joint with Vasolen. This willstop any further corosion.Cheers+Beers Jim.

Unless you have a really heavy duty charger it should take a lot longer than an hour to charge a flat battery, I have a start charge battery charger capable output of 20amph and that would take at least an hour to charge a flat battery. One way to check if a battery is any good is to put a headlight bulb on it and see how long it takes to go flat, I like you think it could be a failing cell.
