Gearstick rattle

Hi all. The gearstick in my '73 CF rattles like mad, unless I put my hand on it. I drove it all the way from King's Lynn to Aberdeen like this!

Does anyone know what causes gearstick rattle in an early CF and how to cure it? Is there some sort of repair kit available? Thanks!
