Fuel pump solenoid

Hi all!

I just bought a beautiful little Bedford CF from 1984, Christened "Jack the Hooter". Alas, on his second trip out the engine died and refused to start again. The problem is to do with the fuel reaching the accelerator and I think I have wittled it down to the solenoid sticking. Unfortunately my mechanics manual says nothing about this or how to fix it so I am feeling pretty stumped. Any ideas?

Jess

If you do a search there is a thread about removing the fuel solenoid (assuming you mean the one on the carb). If you have some kind on external extra solenoid fitted then the best bet would be to temporarily bypass it. A quick check to do would be to ensure the solenoid has 12V going to it when the ignition is on.

One quick and dirty way to see if it is fuel starvation is to squirt some easy start into the air intake and start her. If it starts on easy start then you do have some sort of fuel starvation issue.
