What size are the nuts on the exhaust manifold?

Hi folks
2.3L petrol engine. My nuts have dropped off! (well, some of them)
They're the ones that go on the studs to join the manifold to the exhaust down pipe.
Does anyone know the correct size for these?
There seems to be a fairly common problem with the nuts on the manifold studs working loose. Any recommendations for making them more secure? A lock nut would be nice but I'm not sure they'd stand the high temperature.

Original size was 3/8 inch UNC.

If there's enough thread length then two brass nuts locked together should stay put.
