Gearing up

Hello all

I am at a loss I just don't understand gear ratios and final drives

Been trawling the net and looking for other set-ups to get an idea but I am just getting more confused

some one put a transit 2.5 n/a engine (4ab) in my van with a MT75 box (not sure if it close or wide ratio)

C8 - MT75 5 Speed Close ratio (3.89)
AG - 4 Speed auto (A4LD)
W8 - MT75 5 Speed Wide ratio (4.17)
E8 - MT75 5 Speed Close ratio (3.61)

Its a 5 speed not sure what one will try find out tomorrow.
That is attached to the original diff I believe to be 4.6251 (8/37)

I just feel that it revs a bit high and struggles up hill. Tried a top speed run and stayed at 65. I am happy going slow, but would be nice if the engine didn't have to work so hard.

got the very same set up in my camper with the same problem & noisy at anything over 50, still it means I dont have to listen to her indoors chatering away from the passenger seat
