Fitting a new windscreen seal

Hi all

Proud owner of a beautiful 1972 CF Campervan Brigand. I'm compiling a list of things to fiddle and fix, and first up is replacing the windscreen seal. I rang Autoglass (!) - £70 for the seal and £80 to fit (at my house).

Is this the best way to do it or does anyone have any top tips?

Mark

Someone is selling the seals on ebay for £60.00.
If you can get someone to come and fit it though, personally I'd got for that. Almost kille dme fitting two side windows. I wouldn't want to contemplate handling a windscreen.

You sure Autoglass will do it?
I called round a few reputable places when I first got my CF2 and I was consistently told nobody would be able to do it.

Fitting a new windscreen seal is a fairly straight forward job although it is a two person job, you will require a good length of decent cord,a rubber hammer and patients sometimes talcum powder helps. First you put the new seal on the windscreen then you put the cord into the grove starting at the top and overlaping the cord at the bottom, thenoffer the screen into the appeture and with one person on the outside pushing on the screen the person on the inside pulling the cord from both ends the lip of the seal will be pulled over the appeture and into position.

I did my windscreen a few years ago single handedly using the missus' washing line, got it in within 1/2 hour no problem. It's the rust around the screen apperture, especially at the bottom that needs repairing that takes the time...
