Oil Leak Looks like i have inherited a nasty looking oil leak from the gearbox area, looks like it could be coming from where the prop meets the box.Is there a oil seal in that vicinity, and if so, is it going to be difficult sourcing a replacement? ---------------------- |

If it's the Vauxhall 4-speed gearbox (gear shift turret bolted to the side of the main casing) -
After removing the propellor shaft the seal is driven from the rear cover with a chisel applied alternately each side of the seal casing. Ideally a new seal should be fitted using an installer with a flat face and bored out to pass over the protruding end of the gearbox tail shaft -
Careful use of a hammer to start the seal square on the extension housing followed by a suitable large socket to bump the seal home usually will work ok. Before installing propellor shaft smear lip of seal with lithium (LM) grease and ensure that surface of shaft sliding sleeve is free from burrs and scoring. I'll post a link in Ebay adverts for replacement oil seal. ---------------------- |

I need to have a better look underneath the truck when it stops raining (if!). It now looks as though the oil leak(s) are coming from the middle of the gearbox, and the bellhousing. Does this sound like a doom and gloom situation? My CF is a later Opel diesel lump, no idea about the box, it's a 4 speed unit that looks very oily! |

It's on odd leak for a ZF gearbox unless the gearshift turret is loose but then you'd be asking about wonky gearchange ... Remove the cab engine cover and have a look: could be an oil leak from the back of the engine running over the clutch housing then onto the box. ---------------------- |
