backfiring

hello
i hope someone can help me. up until a few weeks ago my van was fine but it started losing power going up hill and backfiring. i tried changing the points condenser rotor arm and dissy cap. i also re set the timing but now the van refuses to start and after a few seconds on the starter it fires petrol mist out the top of the carb.
i hope someone can suggest something because im out of ideas.
thanks Richard

Ignition system problem more likely than anything else & contact breaker baseplate earth wire broken is high on the list if points etc. renewed.

Wire is connected between condenser securing screw and the 3rd screw securing the vacuum unit under the baseplate.

Check for half of wire coming away when detached from under condenser screw.
