Top up gearbox oil

I've misplaced my Haynes manual, so I'm wondering if I get a basic answer here...

Is it possible for a layman such as myself to top up the gearbox oil on my CF2?
I've done a search but didn't find the answer I was looking for.

Its the manual 2.0 petrol, with factory standard 5speed (4+OD) gearbox.

I'm guessing I need to remove the engine cover in the cab and will then see a filler point on top of the gearbox, but its a b*^$%rd getting the engine cover out so I want to ask here before I get on with it.

Also, what grade oil should I be using?

I hope my Haynes manual turns up again soon. I have a feeling one of my girls has converted it into a colouring book.

ZF 4- & 5-speed boxes have the filler/level plug on the right hand side -



(Slant engine setup - ignore relay lever & clutch fork on 'wrong' side for Opel engines.)

Plug hexagon is 10mm.

Recommended lubricant is EP80 gear oil to MIL-L-2105A specification or better.

Whilst you're on the subject Phil, what size Allen Key is needed for a Vauxhall 4 speed?

3/8 inch I think - one size I keep losing for some reason
