New Battery needed ???

Just a quick question. My van starter battery has not been holding its charge. When I charge it for a couple of days, van starts ok. Leave it for two or three days and not enough power left in it to start. I did have a leisure battery connected and thought it may be a faulty split charger, but after disconnedcting the leisure battery, starter battery still goes flat.It is a fairly old battery and think it is just finished, but any other things I should check just in case.
Also, starter battery is 43Ah, leisure is 75Ah. Should may new starter battery be about 75Ah, or is one about 45Ah still ok? Shouldn't discharge if the split charger is working, I'm I correct.
Cheers Ally.

Battery

Hi Ally 1314 ,you have it correct,it does sound like your battery has seen better days.If the 45 amp one was doing its job I would not spend the extra money for a larger battery.I hope this helps.Cheers+Beers Jim.

New battery fitted, still starting first time after a week, so seem to have solved the problem. Just a quick question, the new battery had two small bungs on the side which had to be removed. As the battery is positioned under the front passenger seat, should these bungs be vented to the outside of the van, i.e., short piece of tubing in them to outside of van. Seem to remember reading this somewhere before? Thanks

Hi yes the bungs should be vented to the outside, unless your's is like mine and under seat but only on 2 rails so open the the road. the reason is that when the battery is being charged it gives off toxic gas.
