diesel engine

bought a dreg cf2 trying to determin what size the engine is 2000 or2500 it a diesel

If it is a CF2 or a Facelift then the standard factory fit Opel diesel engine was 2.3 litre (2260cc).

Engine number is what will say for sure; it's on the left hand side (starter motor side) of the cylinder block -
