Gague Problems!

Hi all
I was out in the van yesterday and when I turned the engine on after we had been parked for a while I noticed that the petrol gague was showing full and the water temperature gauge was also right in the red. The van only had a quarter tank in it and also it was not overheating so it is obviously a problem with the dials. I have had a look underneath and there doesn't seem to be any loose wires. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be? Many Thanks!

More than lightly it will be the voltage regulator that's at fault.

In place of sending approx 9v to the gauges in place of full battery volts.....

Hi
I have just bought a second hand fuel tank and I am planning to fit it this week so when I am doing that I am going to try and fix the problem with the guages.
