blydenstein head conversion- info please.

finally got all the parts to do a complete service only for beddie to run even worse than before, lots of pinking and missing on one. all parts the same except the spark plugs. i bought plugs off here and they are much shorter than the ones in my engine (denso t20epr-u) so we've changed back to the old plugs and now shes much better. looking through the paperwork that came with her we have found that her engine received a b+ blydenstein conversion about 15000 miles ago .i have looked online and i can't find out if this means the points should be set differently. we've tried all gaps from 50 to 70 and shes still not quite right.other than longer plugs should anything else be different?
the only info we've found is a few cuttings about blydenstein with beddies paperwork and basic info about the man. i realise the valves on my head will have been enlarged to enhance performance but would this make her unleaded? she has an inline lead bullet but not sure when this was fitted.engine was modified in 1997, any info would be much appreciated, thanks

Why not fit an electronic ignition system to get rid of the woes of the points system.........

As for spark plugs then CR42CTS should work with no problem at all.

Play around with the timing by no more than 3' though and the gap should stay as standard.......

To get the best out of the Blydenstein head you should have a variable timing cam sprocket fitted.......Along with a bigger carb / exhaust system.

Possibility of a Stromberg Carb fitted? If you post pics, it can be identified!

With bigger valved head, setting c/o mixture on carb and ignition timing to suit, it might require a bit of tweeking, as not standard.

If the engine has flat top (high compression) pistons then probably you will need to use 4 star equivalent petrol to reduce pinking even with ignition timing retarded 3 degree.
