Hello Alex,
On a recent 780 mile trip, using motorways and A roads, we were returning 21.74 mpg on LPG. The price at ASDA, in Kirkcaldy, at the moment is 66.7p per litre. As for locations of garages we use an Autogas book, that you can buy, telling you where the stations are.

Hi I have a CF350 the most Ive ever got is 15 mpg, if you have an android phone there is a app called LPG CNG finder also one called what gas, a 90 ltr tank should hold nearly 16 gallons.

Hello Guy,
Before pricing up an LPG conversion I would also take into consideration that you may need to have hardened valve seats fitted. I got 15,000 miles on LPG before I burnt two valves out.

Hello Dave,
If I carried what you carry Dave, I'd be happy with 15 mpg.

Dave you can change your rear diff thus giving you better mpg
yours will probably be an extra low ratio diff and a diff from an ambulance will swap straight in thus giving you a better MPG........

Surprized at the MPG figures your getting from your petrol engines.
I've got a CF 350 D (the Opel diesel engine) flatbed recovery truck and on a 300 mile journey back from Cornwall with a car full of spare parts on the back (all up weight must have been four tons!!!) grinding over the hills of the moors and yet the old warhorse returned 25 MPG!!!
It's the twin wheel rear axle so has really low gearing though the engine has epic 'slogging' ability (torque) so can pull higher gears at low revs.
Wonder what MPG the Opel diesel would give propelling a lighter camper van?

You will find that the speedo is running fast this gives false reading with mpg.
The only way to calculate accurate mpg is to use a satnav to collect true mileage and then with true amounts of fuel calculate the mpg over a given distance.............
Its been known for speedos to show almost 30% fast .
Converted systems are even worse ..................

Normally we deduct 10% off the mileage to allow for speedo error. This was checked by the SatNav on a straight piece of motorway.
Now, having said that, we have justed checked our recent fuel estimates and for some unknown reason 10% seems not to have been deducted so the figures over 788 miles will now be 709 and the fuel consumption has dropped to 19.57 as opposed to 21.74.
Now as for the speedo's accuracy of speed, round about 30 it's not too bad, after that when travelling at 40mph, the speedo shows 50 and when travelling 60 mph it shows 75. Not sure if this is due to the overdrive or the axle or the speedo. Just one more thing to do on the list.
Thank heavens for SatNavs.

The speedo on my Bedford seems to reading about right juding by the speed of other traffic around me.
the run to and from the end of Cornwall is one i have done many, many times in several different vehicles and to within a couple miles all register the same distance, including my Bedford.
perhaps its because i have a completely different drive train compared to camper vans that dont seem to have speedo issues

My speedo flickering between 20 & 25 is doing 30 according to the roadside speed checks.
