Bulk head electrical conection blocks
Hi,
was wondering if any one has bypassed the electrical wiring blocks on the bulk head, as I seem to have a few minor electrical problems and last time taking them off and cleaning sorted the problems out. so is it possible and any suggestions on the best way of doing it. as I don't think they will come apart to be cleaned any more!!!
Thanks,
Dobbin.

The way that I've dealt this in the past is to solder the cables together using Western Union splices - google
In-line non-insulated crimp tubes also work well especially on thicker cables but must be good quality (e.g. Solistrand), properly crimped &, like splices, insulated (heat shrink tubing). I've not tried weatherproof pre-insulated crimp terminals yet - a bit large to make a tidy job.
Terminals in the connector socket can be unlocked from the plastic moulding by using a thin blade down the side from under the bonnet; hole in the moulding then is the feed through point for the wire with terminal cut off.
Plug is best cut off & all wires from it spliced one at a time from under the bonnet.
Once all wires for a plug are spliced & insulated they can be secured to the connector socket with a gob of silicone sealer.
A fiddly job but once done it removes a lot of problems; rarely need the connector anyway except for re-wires - it's more a legacy of cutting down production line assembly time than essential to maintenance.
